Employee workplace drug testing works! Since 1988, “The Drug Testing Index”™ report by Quest Diagnostics Laboratories has been updated and released annually. Their 2024 report is based on 9.8 million drug tests nationwide of USDOT-regulated, "safety-sensitive", and "general workforce" employees performed. The nationwide success of employee workplace drug testing continues to be confirmed!

There is no longer any question: the continuation of pre-employment, random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion employee workplace drug testing results in lowering employee drug test “positivity” rates. Note below, the whopping 66% drop in drug test 'positivity' rates for employees since pre-employment and random drug testing records were first kept by Quest Diagnostics in 1988:

In 1988, 13.6% of all employee drug tests were positive for one or more drugs.

In 1991, 8.8% of all employee drug tests were positive for one or more drugs.

In 2001, 4.7% of all employee drug tests were positive for one or more drugs.

In 2024, 4.6% of all employee drug tests were positive for one or more drugs.
